Formerly of New York, artist Julie Goldstein, makes her home in Cardiff by the Sea, California where she takes inspiration from the ocean and her life experiences. Her work is characterized by a physical, almost masculine, dynamic in terms of materials and process, yet remains uniquely feminine in it’s subjects, colors, and aesthetic. This wonderful contradiction collides with her narratives, which are infused by a colorful cast of characters such as heroines and villains, teamriders on surfboards, and pirates on the high seas. She has exhibited globally and her most recent show is on display at the Pacific Surf Gallery in Cardiff.
